Holiday Auction to Benefit Winnie’s Wish

 

What I’m about to say is risky.  I might lose some of you as friends.  I’ve admitted this before, but you might have forgotten.  I am a Snow Lover.

It’s true; I love snow.  I’m not at all crazy about frigidly cold temperatures.  But snow  . . .  I’ll take it.  Now as an animal rescuer I worry during ANY extreme weather that can be hard on outdoor domestic animals and wildlife.  Long periods of below-freezing temps make it hard to find water.  Long stretches of heat in the summer can do the same.   It’s hard for outdoor animals to get through extreme heat or extreme cold.  

As far as JUST SNOW, however, I find it to be magical.  And I certainly do love it for the holidays.  We don’t get a lot of snow here in Southern Illinois.  But a few days ago we got about two inches, and it’s not even Thanksgiving yet. 

 

 

 

Snow definitely puts me in the mood for holidays.  And that brings me to –

Beautiful snow pictures. My stray porch cats are hard to keep warm. We built them a cat house and put warming blankets inside and draped a plastic table cloth over that to keep out the damp. Strays have a hard time. The temp is going to fall drastically in the next few days and thinking what to do to help them more - have no out side plug in. Prayers for the out side creatures. Hoping the auction goes well.

I like the snow, too, especially the untrodden countryside snow, or a city night, silent and deep. Loreena McKennit sang a beautiful song about snow, and I think about that often when it snows heavily. But it's not so fun bicycling through...

I’m teasing I hope you know. :) I’d rather only have snow on Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day then be done. But we get lots and it overstays its welcome every year!
