Last Monday I posted that I wouldn’t be doing my normal Tuesday post that week. I was supposed to be up at 4am and on the road by 5am to a television station that is a little less than an hour from my home. Let me start at the beginning.
About a year and a half ago, I was fostering (as I often do) several kittens for the shelter where my daughters work. One of those kittens – Victor – went to the Forever Home Friday segment on the local news morning show. An anchor who was working that morning (Stefanie) ended up falling in love with Victor. She had one kitty (Foxy) at home already; she adopted Victor, renamed him Otis, and gave him his Forever Home. I couldn’t have been more thrilled. As you all know – once I’ve fostered a cat or kitten, I’m as invested in finding a perfect home as I am for any of my Wishers. Stefanie was the perfect cat mom for Otis!
I spoke with Stefanie not long ago, and we discussed the possibility of her doing a short piece for the morning show about Winnie’s Wish and my dream for the future. (She also sent me updates and pictures of Otis!)
As I’ve mentioned on this blog, if I had another source of income, I could stop using my kennel as a business and open up all that room for rescue. The hope (back when I published my daily dose book) was that possibly it would catch on, get noticed, or find its way into the right hands to create an audience of buyers. That never happened. Then I wrote the children’s book last Winter. I’d love for my books to be read by loads and loads of people. I’d love for people to read my daily dose book and fall in love with the stories of dog and cat rescues. I always dreamed that the book would have a large audience and great numbers of people would read and say to themselves – “If she can rescue one dog or cat at a time, so can I!” Then I wrote the children’s book with the hope that parents and teachers might read the book to their kids. It’s a book about being nice in a world that is losing its grip on that concept. It would be wonderful to think that folks might read either of these books and find themselves thinking of ways to make the world a better place. The side effect would be some sort of income that I could use to continue my rescue work. So I’d love to find a way to get the books “out there,” but of course I have no money for marketing.
Enter Stefanie. She was willing to come out here and do a piece about Winnie’s Wish with a highlight on the books. Originally, the piece would air and be followed by a live interview (the book part). That’s when I thought I’d be leaving early in the morning to head to the television station. The live portion was then eliminated by management, but Stefanie came all the way back out here to do a quick interview about the books to air with her piece. What an angel!
So Winnie’s Wish (and the books) was on the morning show today. Cross your fingers, Friends, that it will bring book sales. I still have my dream to stop running the kennel and turn that space into a shelter area.
Stefanie – THANK YOU.

Before I close, let me share with you a gift that arrived here for Winnie’s Wish. The note said – Happy Spring!
I’ll be back tomorrow with the first Wildlife Wednesday post of the year. See you then.
Chrystal, that interview was so cool! Hope it makes more people aware of how many animals need our help. I had your first book on kindle and then also got a printed copy for my book collection. Didn't know about the other book until now so I just got me a copy on Amazon :)))

I always watch The Channel 6 news program and Stefanie is so good on the program. It was wonderful for her to come to Grand Chain and do the interview. The picture of you is very good. I am sure she will call attention to the rescue. Otis looks so fine with his sister kitty. Thanks to you, he lived to become a sweet loving cat in his forever home .

Friends, share a kitty from the side bar today, ok? Lets get some kitties into homes so there's room for more when kitten season comes into full swing!
Don't forget to get the books if you don't already have them, get them as gifts if you do! Donations and wish list items always welcome! Help anyway you can!
