The next seven days are packed full. This is Thanksgiving Week. Thursday is obvious. The following day is Black Friday. Then there’s Small Business Saturday. Cyber Monday starts next week off followed by Giving Tuesday. Whew! I do believe The Holidays have arrived.
This will be my first Thanksgiving without sugar. I’ve had some health issues over the last year and a half, and I started reading about how sugar exacerbates one of these conditions. I thought to myself – No way can I give up my sweets, my CHOCOLATE! I’ve been addicted to sugar my entire adult life, but Friends – I did it. I got off sugar several months ago, and sure enough – it has helped. So this will be my first Thanksgiving without eating every dessert in sight (and then feasting on leftover desserts for days after). I feel confident I can do it. While I’m busy NOT eating sweets, I’ll be giving thanks. I try to keep my gratitudes in mind each and every day. But I’ll certainly be focusing on what I’m thankful for on Thursday. Most recently, I’m thankful for the Home for little Wisher Daisy (and my foster kitten Apples to the same home). And I’m deeply grateful for Andrea’s latest idea to help Winnie’s Wish – the Wish List drive that Andrea calls Winnie’s Wish Holiday Package Party.
The next day is Black Friday. I will NOT be participating. It’s a busy kennel day here. To all of you Black Friday lovers – Have a great time!
I just might take advantage of Small Business Saturday and have a yard sale that day. It’s a day for supporting your local community, so maybe (weather permitting) the community will support the animal shelter and come shop at our yard sale.
I’ll try to remember to run an ad on my Facebook page on Cyber Monday about my books. Maybe a book or two will sell during the holiday season.
And for Giving Tuesday, I have a couple of organizations I will support. And I have a couple of Friends of Winnie’s Wish who’ve said they will be supporting my Wishers!
Now I said The Next Seven Days but didn’t mention the first of those days – tomorrow (Wednesday). Tomorrow I will be blogging about a new Wisher. Did NOT need another Wisher. But there was no way around this one . . .
Hope you have a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving. Hope you have a great next seven days as we move into the Holiday Season.
Here are some seasonal pictures I want to share. I tried growing pumpkins this year. I grew five – lol. Not five types. Five total. My geraniums are STILL blooming (along with a couple of other plants) even though we’ve had some nights that dipped below freezing. The sunsets are gorgeous this time of year. And I got a picture of a beautiful buck in the field in front of my house. Took that picture right before deer gun season came in. I sure hope this magnificent creature made the weekend.
I hope you join me here tomorrow for a story about a kitty - a kitty who is now a Wisher.
Your pics are lovely, and congrats on the pumpkins! I've tried many times to grow them only to lose them to squash bugs. I'm glad you're getting some relief from cutting sugar. It is hard but worth it! Perhaps you can still have a bit of super dark chocolate? Good luck with the sale, and I am anxious to hear about the new Wisher. Have a happy turkey day!

Sorry to hear about your health issues - we have the same thing going on here. The cut back on sugar is hard - It can be done-- just not so good tasting. We get Russell Stover candy - sugar free coconut, mint, and chocolate with peanuts. Very good for sugar free. These stores are getting with it, and there are some cookies, and lemon bread at Kroger that are realy good. Good luck on the yard sale on small business day. Can't wait to hear of the new Wisher tomorrow. Be thankful in life, as you are, where you are. Have a happy Thanksgiving all.

The pumpkins look neat -just the right touch of color to the deck - Chrystal- the buck in the picture, looks majestic - as every who knows me- knows- I hate hunting in any form. Those beautiful creatures have families, and feelings and to kill something to please ones blood thirsty needs is just the pits. There is plenty of meat at the grocery. A pox on hunters

LOVE your pictures! Fall is so beautiful, isn't it? I always love your stories, but I know a Wisher is the last thing you need right now. Of course, there's no way you could turn away a needy kitty, Chrystal! I'll be waiting anxiously to read all about it tomorrow!

It’s good that you have eliminated sugar. I wish I had such motivation. I have no doubt that it is having a benefit. It must be difficult to resist temptation, especially at holidays, but you’ll probably be able to enjoy the holidays more - and more of them in the future! - because of sugar’s absence.
