Have you ever used this qualifier when speaking about other folks? “They’re animal people.” I have. It becomes more difficult to dislike someone (for personality characteristics or political/spiritual beliefs) once you find out that he or she is an “animal person.” It appears to me that a shared love of animals can bring all kinds of different folks together.
And there’s another thing about “animal people.” I happen to be a person who was born loving animals. As a kid, I used to encourage the occasional insect that I found in our house (a ladybug or a gnat) onto a piece of paper to be carried outside and released. (I still do that.) But I know people who were not born “animal people.” Yet so many of those folks, once having invited an animal to live with them as family, become full-fledged animal people. There’s just something about living with an animal.
Love for animals is growing in this country (and in many places around the world). More and more humans feel that their animals are actually family members. Love for animals is making human hearts bigger.
Wouldn’t it be grand if all the people in the world learned to love animals and everyone invited animals into their homes! Think of the love. Think of the connections between all of the “different” humans – all coming together in their love for animals.
Answer to world peace?
I dream.
[Like so many times before . . . thank you for your warm, caring words about Rocky.]
See you tomorrow.
I agree with every word you said. However I will add sometimes it is harder to invite a non animal lover to my house. I do the once over of the couch and kitchen and occasional see a stray hair blowing up from an air vent. Oh - how I wish I had not seen that stray hair which I know is just waiting to drop down as we set down to eat. I wonder how I can be friends with non animal folks. I do feel sorry for them because they will never feel furry ones in their bed warming their feet at night. I wish I could just stick a cat or puppy in their lap and sentence them to hold it for a while till they feel the warm love coming through. I do wish they would take a chance on love and adopt a furry one. Prayers for their heart to turn to the side of furry love.

My old dog Candy is coming to the stage where your Rocky was when you made the move to free him from his pain. Prayers for me to have your courage when the time comes which I know is very near. Tears of an animal from birth.

it would certainly be a nicer world if we could be kinder to ALL things

There is so, so much truth here. I am just like you, having been born with a keen love for animals.
I try not to be judgmental, I really do, but when I find out that someone is not an animal person, I tend to see them in a different light. I think, to be honest, I lose a bit of respect for them. This is especially the case when someone goes out of their way to admit or boast that they don't like animals. How can someone so boldly and outwardly admit to disliking the embodiment of unconditional love and innocence? I cannot even begin to grasp that. On the other hand, when I find out that someone is indeed an animal person, they get brownie points from me.
Thank you for sharing this.

I have a hard time understanding how one can NOT be an animal person. When I hear of someone who truly does not like animals, I have an immediate distrust of them (unfair, but it's the way I feel.) More "animal people" would truly make this world a better place!

I can relate with being a life long animal person, but not so far as bugs are concerned... :)
Lets see if we can find more animal people to adopt some Wishers, shall we? Share the wishers from the sidebar and help find them some wonderful forever homes!
don't forget donations and wish list items!

When I was a child, I did not play with baby dolls and Barbie dolls, I had my 32 stuffed animals. Each had their own name. In high school, when all my friends were saying, "I want a boy and a girl" (human children), I was saying, "I want a dog and a cat!". I did not have human children (zero regret) but my home has always had a few furry children (up to 5 at one point). I feel blessed! To me, no matter how many human children, a home is empty without a pet!
