Since you can certainly scan down to the pictures to see who’s been adopted, I won’t try to wait til the end of the post to unveil the lucky Wisher. The sweetheart that has been chosen and is off to live The Good Life is Star!
And here’s the wonderful story. On Thursday, Sept. 29, I wrote about Star on this blog. It was the announcement post that she was finally ready for adoption. I posted her on Petfinder that day, too. Of course, I knew that it was unlikely that she would be chosen while she was still a kitten. Kittens aren’t really moving from shelters right now because of all of the free kittens everywhere due to Kitten Season. I wished like crazy that Star could be adopted as a kitten and start her new life NOW, but I knew she would eventually move to the cathouse and I would have to continue to hope that someday someone would pick her. As I said, she went onto my blog and Petfinder as ready-for-adoption on a THURSDAY. The following Sunday evening – YES, just three days later! – I received a Petfinder inquiry for Star. I can confidently say that I’ve NEVER had a response that quickly after having listed a Wisher as adoptable. Now. That’s not the end. Just because I receive an inquiry doesn’t mean anything is going to happen. I periodically receive inquiries. I respond with an email asking the initial questions. My intention is to open a dialogue with the inquiring party to see if this is a person who is right for a Wisher. Some folks never email back. Some folks email back and immediately prove themselves to NOT be what is needed for a Wisher. Still others email back and forth with me, but something happens and the potential adoption falls through. What I’m saying is – I don’t allow myself to get TOO excited over the initial inquiry.
When I emailed J back, asking him to tell me about his family, other pets, etc., he sent me a VERY convincing response. J had a wife (S) and 8-yr-old daughter (A). They also had one cat – Bella. J even sent pictures of daughter A WITH Bella. Here is some of what he said:
We are definitely looking for a 100% indoor cat. We currently have one other cat, Bella, who is a 1-year-old short haired gray cat. She’s extremely relaxed, and we’re looking for a companion cat for her to enjoy her day with. Bella is A's first pet, and she has done an amazing job with her. A asked for another cat because she was worried that Bella was feeling lonely during the day while we’re at work and school. While we know that Bella probably will be fine, we also know that a companion will give her some enjoyable social interaction that she currently doesn’t have. We watched your video with Star, and saw that her temperament would be a perfect match for us and our family. Plus, A really got excited as soon as she saw her. I’ve attached a few pictures of Bella with A.
We continued to email and it just didn’t take very long for me to be convinced that this was, indeed, the home for Star. We made our plans to meet. J and his family live about three hours from Winnie’s Wish so we started arranging to meet halfway. I gave J some options for when I could pull off the transport – Wednesday evening, Friday evening, Sunday afternoon. If not, we could shoot for the next week. J emailed back – Let’s go for Wednesday.
So on Wednesday evening of last week, less than a week after Star was posted on Petfinder, Husband and I took off with little Star to meet her new family. Transports can be rough. Most cats don’t love traveling. I’m never sure how any particular cat will react. Star did not enjoy being inside her carrier. So I decided to try her out of it. She definitely did not like to SEE the movement. She stayed low in the vehicle, mostly in the floor, but she did adventure around a bit.
We arrived at our destination, and before long we were meeting Star’s new family. I felt great about turning my little Star Baby over to J, S, and A. As we were talking and doing paperwork, A got into their vehicle with Star. She asked permission to get Star out of the carrier, and when I looked over at one point, A was holding Star like she’d known her forever. I always have a great deal of trouble driving away from an adoption. But I have to say – as sad as I always am to give up one of my sweethearts, I was SO happy to know that Star was on her way to The Good Life while still so young.
J was kind enough to send me a text as we were each driving through the darkness, back to our homes. He said he wanted to let me know that Star was curled up in A’s lap asleep. Heaven.
S emailed the very next morning and told me that even though Bella did not take kindly to this new family addition, Star was exploring all over the house. And then just yesterday, I received another email from S. She said this – Chrystal You will be happy to know that Star and Bella are already best friends!!! This morning they were by the patio door eyeballing a bird and both launching themselves against the window trying to catch it. They play and sleep together it's just hilarious to watch.
Star is completely at home now, she already knows every corner of the house and runs everywhere. As you can see from the pictures she's already spoiled. :) I caught her sleeping on the couch belly up, I was like "man I wish I could sleep like that"!
Star is amazing and we are already crazy about her!
So there you have it. A Wisher has been adopted. It’s the BEST news we can get around here. Thank you J, S, and A (and Bella, too) for taking sweet Star Baby into your home and your life.
All I can say is "precious"! The family and how Bella just accepted little Star. Yep, liv'n the dream!!!

Oh happy tears!!!! Yay for Star!!! And for her new family! You cannot imagine how I hoped and prayed that she would not have to go into the cathouse (no matter how wonderful it is, it's not home) and would be adopted as a kitten straight from the kitten room! And oh my gosh! Bella looks even more like my Star (little Star's namesake) than little Star does! And is that a pony tail hair doodad I see that she's obviously been playing with? Awesome!
Oh dear friends, lets make this the start of a rash of Adoptions!! Lets get these kitties out there in front of people! Click a kitty on the side bar, use the 'share' buttons and share them on facebook, twitter, wherever you can! Ask your friends to share! Let's empty the Cat house!
Don't forget donations! And Wish List! And the Auction!!!

Hurray! How awesome is that? Not only did Star find the perfect home & family, but she is now the proud owner of a sweet little human sister & also got a cute little furry sister to boot! It just doesn't get much better than that! It's just the BEST news!

Ahhhh, Lucky Little Star, and lucky family to have adopted her! Chrystal, I'm sure it's days like this that you live for. How wonderful to know that your fur baby is in good, loving hands and will certainly be living The Good Life. Thank you for taking Star in and making this life possible for her.

This is excellent news. Once again, I am envious of the easy integration of two cats, in this case, Star and Bella. Mine have been together for years and none of them likes another. But Star is lucky, and so is her new family.

So happy to hear of the adoption of Star - such a pretty kitty. I love the sister Bella pictures. Every cat needs a friend. Mine all play together. I do hope this is a start of something big. More adoptions. keep the pictures coming. We here at Fur a Way land love to see them.

I have a different computer with windows 10 and am trying to figure it out. Its a bummer. Hate windows 10. I think most of you all have it already. I might need some help. The animals all need help so I guess that is the object here. Adopt - is the word for today. Donate when you can.
