I have been sharing some “Where Are They Now” type posts about some of the Wishers who are out there living The Good Life! My goal is to have information available at the click of a picture for people who might be considering the adoption of a Winnie’s Wish cat. These stories will hopefully be testament to the fact that even though a Wisher might be halfway across the country from the adopter, those adopters say it was absolutely worth it to go the extra mile. And for those Wishers who required a little more patience, their families tell me it was worth it beyond a doubt. MR and her husband were not only willing to adopt a couple of Wishers who had some, well, "issues" . . . but they were also involved in a long, patient process of working out the details of getting these two Wishers from here in southern Illinois all the way out to California. They persevered and we made it happen. Now read about whether or not they think it was worth it.
When we look back over the last 2 years, do we think that adopting Winnie's Wish cats, and specifically these two cats (read Valentine’s Day, Finally, We Never Gave Up, and Love Found a Way) was worth it? Absolutely, unhesitatingly, without any question, "Yes!" Was it worth the search for the right cats for our family? Yes. We had looked for a long time at various shelters in our local area, but had not found any really good fits. There were plenty of cute cats of all ages and personality types, but none of the ones we met were exactly right for us. We knew that we would know when the right cats came along. And the right cats would know us, too. As long time readers of Chrystal's blog, we were aware of Felicity (Frosting) and her story. And when Hershey Bear joined the Winnie's Wish crew, we followed his story, too. They were both so cute and had such unique personalities that we were convinced that they'd get adopted soon. But they didn't. And the longer we followed their stories and got to know them better through Chrystal's posts, the more we knew that these were the "just right" cats we'd been searching for. "Perfect" means something different for each person and each family. We knew that in spite of their hard beginnings, these two cats were perfect for us. Their quirks just made them that much more uniquely right for us, that much better a fit for our hearts. It was this absolute confidence that made us keep hanging on when the adoption process/transport seemed so impossible. We knew with complete certainty that these specific cats were meant to come home to us. And after much work and love from so many special people, come home they did. Was it worth the wait? Yes! Between the two of us, we've had many different cats over the years. But, we've never had cats who appreciate our love and having their own family like Felicity and Hershey. Chrystal once asked why we chose to adopt from her instead of from some place much closer to us, and I answered that it was because we knew that her cats know what love is. That sounds so simple, but it makes Winnie's Wishers so special. Felicity and Hershey came to us knowing how good love feels and how much they want it. They show us every day how much they appreciate the love we give them and how much they enjoy giving love back. We've never before had cats who take love breaks during their meals! They both will stop eating to come give and receive kisses, then return to their food. Such sweeties! Did they need an adjustment period? Yes, they took some time (less for Felicity, a little more for Hershey) to fully trust that this was really their family and home. Was it worth the time invested and the patience to reassure them that this was their forever home? Yes! The unabashed love that they give us and the obvious pleasure they take in being together with us as a family are more than enough reward for any work we put into teaching them to trust us. To anyone reading this who is wondering whether adopting a WW kitty (or two!) will be worth it, we would ask, "Is investing in love worth it?" "Is knowing that your love makes all the difference in a very special cat's life worth it?" "Is knowing that this special cat will return all your love and more worth it?" Trust us, the answer is an unqualified, resounding, "Yes!"
Thank you MR and husband for the story about Frosting now Felicity and Hershey bear. Both are beautiful and look so happy and content. Love does make all the difference. Winnie's Wishers come with back grounds that take many from starving sick kitties to beautiful loving cats wanting forever homes. You stepped up and took the step to get these cats a long way home to a new life. You did a very good thing. You loved the furries enough to take that extra step. Bless you friends of the furries.

Now THAT is a true love story! What patience MR and her Husband had in waiting for transport! In waiting for the right kitties to come along too! How awesome! So so so worth it!!!!
OH please share the Winnie's Wish kittes! Lets make sure all of them get happy lives like these two have! One of your friends, or even their friends, could be the absolute right home for one or two (or more!) of these kitties! Please please share!
Please don't forget the need for donations and wish list items! And the book benefits the kitties too and is a great read!!!

I remember this story like it was yesterday. I can't believe it's already been two years since these two lucky cats found their forever family! Patience paid off & it sounds like nothing less than a "love fest" in their home with MR & Husband! Thank you for adopting them!
