I wrote about Smokey in February to highlight him for adoption. I said that he was being bullied. I really had nowhere to move him and I mentioned that this poor guy is one of the reasons I was SO hoping to get an addition built onto the cathouse (which IS going to happen now). Well, things got worse for Smokey. It wasn’t long after I posted about him that he started living under the couch in his room. I started worrying (like I had with some others) that maybe he wasn’t eating or drinking anymore. The second day that he didn’t come out from under the couch at all the whole time I was working, I pulled the couch out. There was Smokey. And he clearly had not come out for a long enough period of time that he had stopped using a litter box. There were two messes under there. So that was it. I moved him to the kennel.
The kennel cat rooms are now FULL. I won’t be able to move one more cat into that area. But luckily I think I’ve found a combination of kitties that works for now. And it was truly the best thing that could have happened for Smokey. He is happier than I’ve ever seen him. Smokey was always a cat who never really got noticed. He never bothered anybody. He let me pet him but he didn’t seek out my attention. Since moving to the kennel office and adjacent cat room, he has flourished. For one thing, I had no idea how much he liked other cats. He was never a bully, but I never saw him being really attentive to another cat in the cathouse. Well he LOVES the other cats where he’s living now. Smokey is a kitty who needs a human of his own AND other cats (or at least one kitty friend). The pictures in today’s post are poor (a lot of them are blurry because the cats didn’t stop moving while I was trying to snap pics). But you’ll see from those pictures just what a cat-friendly kitty Smokey truly is.
Smokey will need a patient home. He was born two years ago this month and came as one of four siblings. The group was too old when taken in so their feral ways had already taken hold. The litter included three boys – Smokey, Toast, and Slate, and one girl – Snowflake. Recently, Smokey’s sibling Toast was adopted into a home with another Wisher. Smokey would do really well if he could be adopted with a fellow Wisher as well. OR – if he could be adopted with his very best friend Cato, that would be amazing. TWO shelters would get an adoption that way. Cato is a foster cat here from the shelter where my girls work. Cato and Smokey have become BEST friends. How great would it be for this pair to be adopted together!! Both will be shy and need an extended adjustment period. You will not find two more gentle sweethearts.
Now take a look at Smokey.
You can't really tell from these pictures, but Smokey and Cato ARE best friends.
SURELY there is a perfect home for Smokey somewhere. Please Share.
Have a great weekend.
We are so happy that Smokey is happy with all his new pals, and are crossing all paws he finds a great forever home with Cato!

Aw, handsome Smokey! We hope and pray that he's chosen soon! With his buddy or to a new buddy's home!
Spring is here! The new cat room needs to go up! SO Close to the goal on gofundme! Won't you consider sending a few dollars to it now so that it can become a reality? (And the roof needs repaired now too, so extra would help!)
Chrystal, on my Leo's Gotcha Day, I want to give you a big hug and thank you for my boy, my heart kitty! Thank you for trusting me with him four years ago!

Smokey looks like a sweet heart. Please someone adopt this sweetie. He needs his good bud to go with him. He would make a loving addition to some one in desire of a fur family. Fur Families are simply the greatest love of all families. Sometimes surrounded by my fur family on the queen size bed I feel blessed many times over. Sleeping with a furry is pur bliss. Adopt today and donate to the new cat room at Winnies wish. Warm wishes for a cool rainy day. Furries make life forever warm.
