Yesterday Winnie’s Wish had an adoption (and it wasn’t just one, it was a PAIR!) Sometime in the near future I will update you on how it’s going there. I’m sure the kitties will be hiding for at least a few days. And thank you for the TON of comments on yesterday’s post about this adoption!
Today, I want to talk about another PAIR of Wishers. I’ve had them on the blog before, but there have definitely been some changes. It’s time to get at least one of these sweeties into a home. There is just NOTHING to say about these two that isn’t wonderful.
The last time I blogged about Nisha and Yardley it was in a post I titled Cuddle Bug and Belly Rub. At the time I wrote that post, I was convinced that this pair needed to be adopted into a home together. One reason for this was how bonded the two had been from the time they were re-united. They stuck together everywhere and did everything side-by-side. Not long after, I discovered that Yardley depended on Nisha for a sense of security. So it was decided. They should go as a pair.
Well, the two have been living in the cathouse for some time now. Being with them day after day, my opinion has changed that they MUST be adopted together. Don’t get me wrong. They still make a great pair. They still love each other. And they still play together. But . . .
Yardley no longer seems to NEED Nisha. In fact, Yardley is so busy playing (every second of her life) that I only really see her interact with Nisha when Nisha joins her for some play time. Here’s the thing with Yardley. She still has the same characteristics I have described before. She drops in front of me and rolls onto her back so I will rub her belly (which is why her nickname became “Belly Rub”). She also still talks to me quite a bit. The new behavior, however, that DEFINES who this cat is – PLAY. I am shocked at how much this cat PLAYS! You know how long I’ve been rescuing and sheltering cats. And I’ve seen a lot of cats who love to play. But this is the truth. I have NEVER seen a cat play more than Yardley does. She plays constantly. She plays with everything. She plays with anything. There seems to be nothing she’d rather be doing than playing. Yardley is an adult cat. She is far past kitten stage. I’m sure she never had access to anything to play with before she was rescued. She is one of the West Woods Gang and I believe she spent her life just surviving. I have taken in lots of cats whose first opportunity to play was once they were living here. But nobody has ever played as much as Yardley does. She plays with every type of toy in the cathouse – balls, feathers, kickers, springs. She runs through the tunnel. She pokes her head through the peep holes in the tunnel. She plays with all of those balls-in-a-track toys. It is completely amazing to watch this cat play. Sometimes I just sit on the floor and watch her. At some point, I need to try to get a video of her playing.
Nisha, on the other hand, has become a bit of a loner. Don’t get me wrong. She doesn’t TRY to stay away from the other cats. All four of the West Woods Gang are sweet cats who cause NO trouble with the other cathouse kitties. But except for the times when she plays for a few minutes with Yardley, I’ve noticed she spends a lot of time on one of the cat trees. Until I walk into her room - then she is on a mission to get me to give her my undivided attention. I have already explained that Nisha is a “Cuddle Bug.” But she really seems to just LIVE to have human attention. If I sit on the floor cleaning litter boxes, she is in my lap. And when I can spare the time, I sit on the couch and let the kitties come to me. She races to beat everyone to my lap. Then, for as long as I will pet her, she stays. Nisha is a lap cat. I honestly don’t know if Nisha even needs the company of another cat in a home. She would probably get along with just about any other kitty. But all she wants in the world is a human of her very own.
Now I said that Yardley didn’t seem to NEED Nisha like she originally did. But I won’t say that Yardley is the type who would do well being adopted by herself. I have several cats who could be adopted as a single and do just fine. But I do think Yardley is one who will adjust much better if she can be adopted with a family member. She still loves Nisha. (You could adopt the two and have one lap cat and one play cat – smile.) Yardley also really loves the other two members of her family – her son Kizzie and her daughter Bunny. (And they LOVE each other. Maybe there’s someone out there looking for THREE amazing cats all at once. Yardley the player, Kizzie the one-eyed bobtail, and Bunny the flamepoint bobtail. PERFECT.) Nisha, on the other hand, just needs someone who can give her lots of love and attention. I assure you – she will give it back.
Help Winnie’s Wish find a home for Nisha.
Or a home for Nisha and Yardley.
Or a home for Yardley, Kizzie, and Bunny.
I realize it seems unlikely that someone would adopt all three of these family members together. However, there was another little family here at one time - Autumn, Truly, & Shiloh. Melissa adopted all three AND a fourth. So I might get lucky enough to get this West Woods family adopted together - the three (pics below) or maybe even all four (Yardley, Kizzie, Bunny, & Nisha).
Have a great weekend.
that is a LOT of cute.....paws crossed

So cute I love all the pictures. PRAY for someone to take a group of cute. These cats are all so pretty that they would make a good addition of furry for any home. Please keep them in mind for your own family pets. Adopt - donate and keep more pets in good homes by having your pets spayed and neutered.

Such cute, sweet love bugs. I hope someone adopts them all together- I hate to break bonded kitties up. When I adopted my Sammy and Joanie, I was told their sibling was already adopted and it broke my heart-they had been together almost 5 years at that point.
