I don't want to create false hope for anybody who has been reading about little Evergreen. I, myself, don't want to believe and then get crushed. But friends – we have improvement! I am relieved and CAUTIOUSLY hopeful. We had another bad day yesterday. But late last night – 10:20 pm to be exact – Everly played with a string on my shirt. He was lying in my lap and I was petting him and talking to him. It would soon be time for another dose of medicine. Older Daughter had played in a softball game and would be stopping by in just about ten more minutes. She was going to administer the nighttime fluids for me. We would take Everly's temperature first to see just how elevated it was before fluids. Now here was Evers very sleepily tapping at the string. I grabbed a toy and dangled it in front of him and he reached up and touched it. That was it. He didn't really feel like playing. But that was more than I had seen. And was I kidding myself, or did he not feel quite as scorching hot?
Older Daughter arrived and I let her take his temperature. I was trying not to let my hopes take me. Finally, there it was – the beep of the thermometer. 102.9. And that was WITHOUT Ketoprofen! Fluids were given. Medication. Older Daughter went home. I had a long talk with Everly. Then I went to bed.
I nearly broke my neck to get to him very early this morning. When I opened the door, he was sitting up. Just sitting there. I ran over to him, and again – he didn't feel as hot. I didn't even take his temperature. I got his medications into him and just sat down in the floor and held him.
I left him long enough to get a couple of things done and to post this to my blog. I don't know what today will bring. I only know that I was supposed to see him either get worse or get better. He is not worse. He is better. As I said above, I am CAUTIOUSLY hopeful.
Thank you SO much for spending this week with me – reading, caring, praying, hoping, believing, sending strength. If Evergreen makes it, he will be the miracle that Wintergreen could not be. And I will love him forEvers and Evers.
jut read this on my phone that won't let me post. so i rushed to my computer to post.
HAPPY DANCE!!!!!! cautiously hopeful but still dancing.

Thank God! I'm a pessimist by nature, so I will remain cautious, too, but these are encouraging signs indeed. I was almost afraid to read your blog this morning for what I would find.

Of course we must all dare to hope - sometimes that is all there is (and most of us have been in that dark space). In Evergreen's case, though, our hopes and prayers and the light that we are sending fuse with the skill of veterinarians and the promise of new treatments, all magnified by the love you are giving to this precious baby, Chrystal. Yes, we dare to hope!
Love to you all! Praying for this sweetheart.
