Monday’s post was entitled A Sweet Week. It’s been a pretty sweet week so far wouldn’t you say? TWO Winnie’s Wishers (Jo-Jo and Sallie) in trial homes. But today is the pinnacle of the Sweet Week, right? This is THE Sweet Day of the Sweet Week. Valentine’s Day itself.
I posed a question at the end of yesterday’s post. I asked you to think about what makes Valentine’s Day so sweet? I know Valentine’s Day can be about flowers and jewelry. But I was thinking more along the lines of sweet things to eat. Guess what MY number one pick would be? C-H-O-C-O-L-A-T-E But there are other things. I saw a dozen cupcakes in a deli that were delightfully frosted with swirls of pink, white, and red. It’s Valentine’s Day and I want to celebrate by conjuring up appropriate mental pictures. But even though I LOVE chocolate and frosted cupcakes, you probably know that if there is ANY way I can bring a homeless furry into the picture, I’m gonna grab that opportunity. Or have I already?
Hmmm . . . . chocolate and frosting.
You might remember when I did Hershey Bear’s adoption plea post (Chocolate Anyone?), I said that if he was still here on Valentine’s Day, I would use him as the mascot. Hershey is still here. This is what I wrote about him on January 22nd in that post: If Hershey Bear is still here on Valentine’s Day, he will be the mascot. Not only is he as sweet as chocolate, he also falls completely in love with EVERY female cat he encounters. He went through the ranks of the group he lived with in our house - falling in love first with Jo-Jo, then with Truly and Sallie. He eventually fell in love with Autumn. And his latest crush has been on Frosting in the cathouse. What a lover boy.
With a name like Hershey Bear and a super SWEET disposition, he makes the perfect cat for Valentine’s Day. I guess the only other cat who meets the requirements to be a Valentine’s Day cat would be Frosting. (I mentioned how it’s starting to look like Frosting might be losing hope.)
Now. I reminded you in the first paragraph that Monday’s post was entitled A Sweet Week, including the news about Jo-Jo and Sallie. What if I told you it only gets better? What if I told you that I’m NOT doing a special wishful adoption plea for Hershey and Frosting? What if I told you they have already been chosen?
YES!! You heard right!! Hershey Bear and Frosting have been chosen by a couple in California - TOGETHER. I heard from M through an email. She and her husband had been reading the blog and watching the various kitties here. Her husband kept being drawn to Frosting. And M was especially fond of Hershey. When I wrote in the post that Hershey’s newest crush was on Frosting, that sealed the deal for them. After a series of emails and lots of conversation, it’s final. Hershey Bear and Frosting have a forever home waiting for them.
Now is there anyone here in the Midwest who is flying to the West Coast any time during March? These two SWEETHEARTS need a way to get home.
This has been a wonderful SWEET WEEK for sure. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Oh my gosh what fantastic news!!!! Yay for Frosting and Hershey :-) Happy Valentine's Day friends!!!

Wow! This is by far the BEST Valentine's Day ever!! I'm am SO happy for you, Chrystal.. and I'm thrilled for all the kitties who have recently received homes! (I have a feeling those two "trial" adoptions will become permanent very soon.) So this will make just 6 in the cat house, right? I'll send my prayers that those remaining will get furrever homes soon. :)
