I don’t believe the storyteller today needs any introduction. Andrea (Celestial Kitties) is a huge supporter of Winnie’s Wish (brick buyer, toy maker, cheerleader, ADOPTER). She purchased a brick in the last round to immortalize the cat who lives with her parents. Now - in Andrea’s words:
When this round of brick sales came around, I knew immediately who I wanted immortalized on the Winnie’s Wish Walkway! I’ve talked about him on my blog a few times, and he’s as impressive as his name. It’s my mother’s cat, Sir Moose-a-lot! Here’s his story!
Moose had been a stray cat living in a park about six blocks from my sister. Their neighbor had been feeding him at the park and one day he showed up on their porch. They kept him on the enclosed porch and tried to find him a home. They didn’t want to take him in the house because, frankly, he stunk.
The oldest twin, (readers of Celestial Kitties know her as The Loud One or TLO) said she wanted him but her parents said no, so she asked my mom (her gramma) if she’d keep him for her. My mom said if she was going to keep him, he was going to be hers.
They went over to see the kitty at the neighbors. When they stepped onto the porch, Moose was on a tall cat tree. He raised his head up and looked directly into my mom’s eyes as if to say "Ok, I’ll go to your house, sure, why not. Let’s go." That’s all it took. He was hers. He gave her a few buddy bumps/head bonks just to seal the deal.
Since my mother had lost several cats to coyotes, she wanted him to stay indoors. But he was having none of that. He would stand on his back legs, reach up to her hip and bite her almost on the waist to say he wanted out! (My mom isn’t especially tall, but that’s still impressive if you ask me!) Now days he knows how to ask with his voice, not his teeth. He actually sounds like he’s saying AAAAIWANOUUUT! (I want out) He has different meow’s for food and water.
Oh the smell! He did stink. And he always seemed to have greasy/stiff fur. They gave him a bath but it didn’t help. They took him to the vet to get snipped and my mom mentioned how he was scratching her so much when he wanted out. The vet said she’d clip his claws for her. Then she said, "Well, now we know why he stinks."
He must have been in a fight or something because one of his back claws had been ripped out and it was infected. (Probably why he got thrown out.) The stiff fur was from him scratching with that paw and spreading the ooze around. He got a course of antibiotics, and amazingly, the claw grew back. Although it is kind of weird looking, but it’s there.
He got his impressive name because he’s such an impressive kitty! He looks, and acts, larger than he is. It’s hard for me to believe that when they got him he was a mere 13 pounds! He was huge then! Too big for just Moose. It had to be Sir Moose. But he was a lover, so Sir Moose-a-lot. But the size! There had to be more. So Thunderbottom fit perfectly!
His middle names came a little later. Goodyear from an LOLcat we saw of a tubby kitty with Goodyear written across his tummy as if he were a blimp. I got hold of a picture of Sir Moose-a-lot Thunderbottom laying on his back and added Goodyear to his tummy too!
It stuck. He lays on his back a lot and my mother says it’s his roadkill imitation, so that stuck too for an impressive full name of Sir Moose-a-lot Goodyear Roadkill Thunderbottom!
I find it hard to believe that Moose is still below the 20 pound mark, because I swear he was 23 pounds at one time. He looks like he must be at least 30 pounds! But he’s a very active, if huge, kitty. If he can’t find enough toys to play with, he bites toes and ankles until you find him something!
He is still and indoor/outdoor kitty, he won’t stay inside. But he is not allowed out after dark, no matter how much he begs.
Oh, and deserving of such an impressively named kitty, he has his very own personal entrance! The bathroom window. There’s a brick ledge along the front of my parents house, and he walks along it and glares at them through the front window to tell them that he wants in. But not at the door. They open the bathroom window and he walks in. Then he waits. Either for pets or if it’s wet out, to be towel dried. Then and only then will he exit the bathroom, walking slowly, directly in front of whichever human let him in so they have to mince their steps or risk kicking him. Until he sees his food bowl, then all bets are off!
He’s an impressive kitty, and the delight of my parents. (My dad can hardly sleep if he doesn’t come to bed with him!) I’m so happy to have him added to the walkway!
It just goes to prove that you never know where your heart kitty is going to come from. My parents didn’t think they’d find theirs stinking up a porch across from my sister. And I bet you don’t know that yours may very well be, right at this moment, sitting in the Winnie’s Wish Cathouse just waiting for you to adopt him or her!
Please, look at all the kitties looking for their forever home on Chrystal’s sidebar and bring home your heart kitty now! Or find your friends, family, and coworkers their heart kitty in the list, tell them about it! Please do all you can to help find these kitties their perfect home so they can be as happy and loved as Moose is!
Andrea ~ THANK YOU.
Andrea--Are you sure Sir Moose and Jack aren't twins?
Much Love,

Andrea knows how to bring Sir -Moose a lot - to life for us on paper.. or screen as it is now..
This is a sweet wonderful story of how a heart cat, becomes a heart cat. Every day a cat from the wild out doors comes inside, and enters someones heart forever and ever. I love the brick and now we all know about this special kitty and will wish him well. Thanks Andrea for telling his story to us out in blog world...as she says - adopt your own heart kitty and have love forever..... Ginny & The Fur Family
