Well, here it is - the post I alluded to last week.
At the time of the “adoption disappointment” surrounding Mitts, I was in contact with another person who was interested in Circe. As always, I started an email dialogue with this person. And also as always, I was afraid to get too excited. Certainly when the Mitts disappointment occurred, I tried hard to hold back my hope about Circe FINALLY getting a home. Circe (and unadoptable sister Tibby Bean) are the two cats who have been in the cathouse longer than all of the others. Circe has become a wonderful, friendly, VERY adoptable darling. But she just NEVER was “chosen”. You all know how many times I highlighted The Gray Girls in the hopes of finding even one of them a forever home. The Gray Girls were the sisters Mitts, Spritz, Glitter, and Cashmere. Then Tulip and Halo became residents of the cathouse and joined the group. And finally, Circe made her miraculous transformation and joined the ranks of The Gray Girls as well. The three LEAST likely to get homes were Tulip, Halo, and Spritz. Then lo and behold, Tulip received a home AND THEN Halo received a home! It was shocking and amazing and each of those adoptions was SUCH a cause for celebration. Then . . . nothing.
Until Mitts. What started as a deep disappointment became a Christmas Miracle when Mitts went to a wonderful forever home. (Did you happen to read the comment Mitts’ new mom left on my Christmas Miracle post last Monday?) There’s only one thing that could compete with Mitts’ adoption - and that one thing would be for ANOTHER of the The Gray Girls to get a forever home.

R and I continued our conversation about Circe. I discovered things about this woman that I REALLY liked. I knew this would be a great home for Circe. I directed R to my blog so she could see more pictures of Circe and read about her. Right away I got an email from R asking if Glitter was still available. I remember immediately thinking how it would be a bit of a disappointment if Circe didn’t get to go since she had been here the longest. But Glitter had been here a long time, too. So I would be OK if Glitter turned out to be the pick.

And then I read something in that email that stopped me in my tracks. If she (Glitter) IS still available, I’d like to adopt them both!

I sat there staring at the computer screen. R was telling me she didn’t want to switch Circe out for Glitter - SHE WANTED THEM BOTH. I stared. I kept staring. Joy started to bubble up. Circe and Glitter had been here SO very long. R explained that she and her husband were in the middle of a move, but she still thought we could make the transport happen on the weekend of December 15. We would meet halfway on Saturday or Sunday.
Then something happened. I got another email from R. Of course, with each new email I was holding my breath. Would she change her mind? Did I dare completely believe that Circe and Glitter would have a home by Christmas? This is what R’s email said: We (R and her husband) were browsing your pics and my husband saw Cashmere. Has she been adopted? He fell in love with her. So if she is still there, we would adopt her too.

Cashmere is the shyest of the group. The best thing that could ever have happened for Cashmere would be to get to go to a new home WITH A FRIEND. This couldn’t have been any more perfect for her. But how about FOR ME?!? Three Winnie’s Wishers all going to the same home - IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS!!! R explained that she and her husband will consider their cats as children. Anybody out there think I might enjoy hearing that? Uh, YES!!
Yesterday, I met R and her husband and turned over Circe, Glitter, and Cashmere to their new parents. Did you happen to realize what this means? The Gray Girls are no more. The cathouse is no longer home to SEVEN Gray Girls waiting forever for a home. Only Spritz remains and that is fine. Spritz requires an extremely special home and if that doesn’t happen, she is not unhappy here. This time of year to say you are dreaming of a white Christmas sounds magical and exciting. For me - it is a GRAY Christmas that offers magic and excitement. What an adoption! What holiday joy!

See you tomorrow.

YIPPIE YIPPIE YAY YAY!!!! The Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde & their Feeders are jumping for joy and dancing with glee!! We've been purring and praying and posting on our own site to Clear the Cathouse by Christmas!! Now it's four down!! WHOOOOOOT!!! We are so so so happy!! Now R & her husband will know the three times joy of having Winnie's Wish kitties!! You know, Jennifer is making her first turkey dinner tonight and ended up giving her sushi to the Horde as a treat because she ended up not wanting it for lunch after all. Maybe it was just us subconsciously realizing that there was a TON to celebrate!! Whoot!!!
Clear the Cathouse by Christmas!! (and a Happy New Forever Home to Glitter, Cashmere & Cire!! I know that the three of you will *all* be settled in and at home by Christmas!!)

We know we're a little lost commenting on this post, but we just had to tell you how thrilled we were to read this. Mom Paula has admired the grey girls for a long time and we think their new parents are pretty special.
