(The FUN is at the end of the post.)
On Monday I said I would do a bit of updating today. One piece of wonderful news from last week was that we FINALLY trapped the third kitten in the group of three out in the middle of nowhere. That third kitten, now named Shiloh, had to have surgery for a badly broken leg. I put up a chip-in to help with the surgery and was blessed with TWICE what I needed. Believe me, ALL of that money, every cent, will go to support my rescue work. What I want to do now is show you some pictures of the Trap family. I am, of course, completely in love with all three of them. Autumn has joined Truly in her love for people. They race to the bathroom door every time Husband or I go in. Truly immediately starts talking. Autumn is much more the silent type, but she insists on just as much attention as does Truly. Shiloh has to be completely confined for a full ten days. He is to have virtually no movement. So he is in a small soft crate with only a small bed, small litter box, and food and water. This seems to suit him just fine. He watches everything that goes on in the bathroom, listens to his family members purr, and observes us as we pet and play with his girls. I bring him out to give medication twice a day and to check his leg wraps. When I unzip his crate he shoots straight out to the food dishes, even though he has one of his very own. Truly and Autumn completely adore each other. Here they are, like two peas in a pod.
The other wonderful thing to happen recently was that Jeanne (Random Felines) is taking the calico family that came from the 90-year old man’s back yard. We are still trying to work out the details of the transport. Those little babies are changing daily. If all goes as planned, Jeanne and I will be on the road THIS WEEKEND getting this family to their destination. Here are some pictures that will make you say Ahhhhhh.
Next, let me show how big Gwennie’s puppies are getting to be. They are about two and a half weeks old. Here are the three little pigs.
The *report from Andrea (Celestial Kitties) about her toy FUNdraiser is that it was HUGELY successful. Well, of course it was. Those toys are awesome and the price was certainly right. And how could you not order a toy package when you know what kind of talent, love and devotion went into EVERY toy. Andrea is amazing. Giant THANKS to her for this gift to me and my work! And THANKS to all of you for ordering Andrea’s toys!
Now Andrea has had another idea. It’s a quick little thing and makes for a bit of fun. It’s a naming contest to raise funds. Andrea (and some of the rest of you) have been encouraging me to keep the chip-in going until its deadline of October 19. I was having none of it because you wonderful people have taken that chip-in to goal and then doubled it. But Andrea suggested that people might like to “chip in” a tiny bit for the rights to name the babies. We happen to have four kitty babies and three puppy babies right now. And let’s not forget Mom Calico Cat - she’s never received an official name either. So here’s what we’ll do - mostly for fun (and because even a dollar is a great thing here). A dollar a name. You might only want to put in a name for Mom which would cost you only $1.00. If you want to have a say in kitten names, it will cost you $4.00 because you have to give FOUR names in that category. (You might know from Jeanne’s blog that she names litters in themes, and these babies are going to Jeanne.) Or you might want to offer FIVE names - Mom and four Kittens which would cost you $5.00. You might want to suggest names for the three puppies - $3.00 to play that game. If you go all out and send names for everybody (Mom Cat, four kittens and three puppies), it will cost you $8.00. You can include your name choices in the comment section at the time of your donation, or in a comment directly on this post, or in an email to me - [email protected] The chip-in officially ends on October 19 and that weekend, there will be three jars set up for all of the names - one jar for Mom Cat names, one jar for the group of four kitten names, and one jar for the group of three puppies. One slip will be drawn from each jar and Mom Cat will have her name, the four kittens will have their names, and the three puppies will have their names. If you want to play, use the chip-in that is labeled “Shiloh’s Surgery.”
$1.00 to name Mom Cat.
$4.00 to name four kittens
$3.00 to name three puppies
Even if you’re not playing the naming game, these pictures will entertain you. Feel those good brain chemicals? Here they are:
Name away. And have a great day!
Those babies are so precious. And I can imagine the sheer joy experienced by Autumn and Truly and Shiloh at not feeling hungry for the first time in their tiny lives. (My darling little Alfie was born feral and starving, and even now he rushes for his food dish as if he hasn't been fed for 3 months and might never see food again).
So pleased the fund raising is going well. xx

love the update on the babies. The name contest is a very good idea. I have to hold my heart at the cuteness of all the fur babies. Today I am waiting for my own computer to be fixed and am on someone elses so I WILL WAIT to enter the contest. MY FUR BABIES LOVE THE TOYS FROM THE FUN FUN FUND RAISER. GOOD GOING Andrea. The pictures of Shiloe and Truly and Autumn are adorable. The piglets are so soft and chunky. Prayers for some families to adopt these families. It would be so nice to keep them together..Have a great night --Ginny & The Fur Family
