A few posts ago, I highlighted the kittens from the Fantastic Fifteen in the hopes of creating interest in adoption. I had noticed that there were some definite pairs in Winnie’s Room. Frosty and Saucer were inseparable from the very beginning. It made me really sad to send them to the shelter because I knew there was very little chance they would be adopted together. If anyone comes in to the shelter and says they want two, Older Daughter plans to draw attention to the this pair.
Then there is Luna and Golden. Golden had been in some type of depression besides being in terrible physical shape. Her personality actually changed when we brought Luna in. She still follows Luna everywhere. They are absolutely beautiful together, and Golden is happy if she is near Luna. I’ve posted many pictures of the two together. Here is yet another.
The other pair that became obvious right away was Max and Dearest. And now they are going to a forever home together. Goldie was sensitive to the fact that they needed each other. When she fell in love with Dearest and decided to adopt her, she considered that Max should come along, too.
Now here is the announcement of the pair that will go to Lana in California. When Lana first contacted me about possibly adopting, the kitty that had gotten her attention was Soapy. Her grandmother had a cat named Soapy, and we agreed that this was quite the unusual name. Soapy, at that time, was doing very poorly. I told Lana that maybe just the fact that someone out there had noticed the little thing would create an energy surge to help keep her afloat. As I continued to fight to keep Soapy alive, we talked about ALL of the cathouse gang - the gray girls, Daphne, and the Fantastic Fifteen. Soapy started getting better, and Lana started thinking maybe she should go for an adult cat since they are harder to place. In a very short time, one particular member of the Fifteen was becoming a definite. I didn’t know much about this kitty at first, but I have since spent a lot of time getting to know him, and he is a great cat. That chosen one is Jasper. Now for a second one. After much discussion and thought, Lana was down to between two - Mitts and Soapy. She desperately wanted to do the right thing. The girls and I did experiments to see how Mitts and Jasper would get along. I’m sure they would have adjusted to each other. But something was happening in Winnie’s Room.
Almost as soon as Jasper was picked, a relationship started to develop before my eyes. Jasper (who is very kitten-like) started playing with the other kittens in Winnie’s Room. But his favorite seemed to be Soapy. In the last few days, just when Lana and I were trying to find the perfect companion for Jasper, Soapy and Jasper fell in love. He is huge compared to her, but they play and play and play. Jasper is very gentle with Soapy. I gave Lana all of the information and waited on her decision. Last night I got the news - Jasper and Soapy are the newest pair to be adopted together into their forever home.
I have been doing this long enough to say that there are just times when cats seem to do things to make sure they end up in certain homes. Sometimes, a human is drawn to a particular cat and they just know that this is the one they should have. Sometimes, when two are going, a cat suddenly becomes the best friend of the already-chosen one, nearly assuring that he or she will be included. When my sister and brother-in-law were making their decision, and had already chosen Alice, Handsome and Alice started hanging out and even sleeping together. Before that, they were full-blown enemies. Obviously, Handsome was meant to be theirs, and he knew it.
Deb is working on the possibility of flights for these most recently chosen pairs. Let’s all cross our fingers that we can get these furbabies into their new homes as quickly as possible. I know a couple of kitty parents out there who are anxious to get their arms around their kitty pairs.
There are a couple of pairs developing in my kennel office. Two of the feral four are already COMPLETELY tame. Literally, they could go into a home right now. The other two are so far away from adoptable that I can’t imagine they will ever come around. But then, I said that about the feral group last fall, too. I’ve learned a lot about ferals since then. Tomorrow, more on the feral four.
I think Soapy and Jasper look great together!!!

Soapy and Jasper do look great together -- they have matching eyeliner!
I love the new photo of Luna and Golden together as I love all their photos. If I didn't have my two oldsters, I'd adopt them in a moment. But I have a limit of two and I love my old fuzzballs...
I hope some lucky person snatches up Luna and Golden together and that Older Daughter succeeds in keeping Frosty and Saucer together. They would have such fun growing up as a pair!

What excellent heartwarming news about Soapy and Jasper.
I too hope beyond hope that Luna and Golden stay together ~ and are re-homed together. I fear if you separate them, then Golden will give up the wil to live. Please, please keep them together; they deseve some luck.

Love the pic of Jasper and Soapy - the odd couple indeed.
About the ferals...I sometimes have doubts about my pair in the bathroom and then last night (at about 4am) I made a trip in there and Jimmy decided he HAD to love on me....purring, asking for attention, the whole thing. I think the attention from me and the attention from Tim has made a difference. And then he hissed at me this morning when I went to feed everyone. It will happen though....same with yours!!

We here at the fur famly home are estatic that the fur kids are going in pairs. Two fur kids are better than one. One sometimes gets lonly if their mothers and dads have to leave them alone for the day and go to work to earn money for food and litter for them and nice plush beds -- Fur people love two fur babies to snuggle up to at night -surrounded by love and listen to the singing chours - it is like Glee in Fur land.. great thanks to Deb for the flying transport arrangements. We are so glad that golden and luna have a chance to stay together. Jasper and Soapy look like the are true soul mates. I hope little Mitts gets adopted soon. What a cutie. Have a good day with the fur babies and prayers that more adoptions come soon. - Ginny & The Fur FAmily

Oh Chrystal I am so sad I am so far behind in visiting, but so excited to see all the good news about adoptions! It brought a tear to my eye to know that so many are going to good homes as pairs. That is just great news! I wish I had more time to comment - I will have to email you later or something because I have missed keeping up with you!

Thank you for making our day, Chrystal. We just love it when the cats bond and go together to their forever homes in pairs. And what a great pair Jasper and Soapy make!
We will purr and pray really, really hard that Frosty and Saucer, and Luna and Golden, get to stay together.
