This is the Winnie's Wish post. You can read this post to learn about how Winnie's Wish got started. If you are interested in adopting a Winnie's Wish kitty, scroll down the right-hand sidebar to view the kitties who are currently available.
We now have a page on Petfinder. You can click on the Petfinder graphic in the sidebar to go to our Petfinder site. Do PLEASE consider offering a FOREVER home to a Winnie's Wish kitty!
Now here is what I wrote in September 2010.
9/20/10. I am so excited to write this post. It is a very special post. Here’s why. . .
On August 15 (2010), we found a kitten (or rather she found us). She was in absolutely terrible shape, but we hoped to bring her back to health and give her the kind of life she deserved. She didn’t get that chance. She moved on to the Bridge and left us (ALL) heartbroken. Her name was Winnie. If you don’t know her story, you can read it here. [8/16 Well, It Happened. . ., 8/17 Heartbreak, 8/18 Tribute to an Angel ]
Winnie seemed to touch so many hearts. An offer was made to me by the Cat Blogosphere to do something special in Winnie’s name. I have a small cathouse which is home to several rescued cats and kittens. The cathouse can only accommodate a handful of kitties at a time. This summer, we have taken in more kitties than we have placed. There are too many cats in the cathouse which is not good for any of them. So we’ve decided on an adoption campaign. We named this event Winnie’s Wish because Winnie wished for a forever home. And the cats in our cathouse (who would have been Winnie’s housemates) also wish for forever homes. The mission here is to get as many of these rescued sweethearts into loving homes as possible. Please help us get these babies placed. We can’t take in any more needy kitties until homes are found for some of these. And remember - if you adopt a cat from us, it opens a spot for another homeless soul who will be able to live in comfort until his or her own home comes along. Help us keep the revolving door open for the many more out there who need us.
*Please note: We are only interested in indoor homes. We want these babies to become full-fledged family members.
Go to the sidebar for a description of each of the kitties who is ready (and WISHING) for a forever home.
OR go to our page at Petfinder. Just click on the Petfinder link at the top of the sidebar.
WE WILL WORK TO HELP YOU WITH TRANSPORTATION TO JUST ABOUT ANYWHERE. SO DON'T LET DISTANCE KEEP YOU FROM ADOPTING ONE OF THESE GREAT CATS.
Some of my readers are willing to help work out transportation for these kitties from where I am in the southern Illinois to just about anywhere a wonderful forever home might exist. We are desperately hoping that these kitties get adopted into loving homes. Please pass the word. But send us only amazing, wonderful people. If you can help by making note on your own blog, sharing us on Facebook, Tweeting about us, or by being part of a transport if that situation should arise, we will be eternally grateful. Leave a comment or email me with any information you wish to share.
Email me at [email protected] OR [email protected]
Keep your fingers (and everything else) crossed. Purrs and purrayers are welcome. In honor of Winnie, let the forever homes come forward. THANK YOU.
Oh this is so great - I hope it helps them to all find good forever homes! I am going to put a link on my blog - I hope it helps to get some people over and get these kitties all good homes!!

That is a wonderful thing to do in Winnie's name. We are just sorry that there is an ocean separating us, so we can't help in any concrete way.

We'll link to you on our blogroll today! (I'm still trying to figure out how to recognize everyone in this wonderful week of promoting Less-Than-Adoptable critters!!)

I am sitting here wishing the all the loving beautiful dogs and cats on Winnie wish list for good loving homes will have their prayers answered and the hearts of loving fur parents will find room for one more in their homes. Another sweet pet doesn't take up much room in the house and pets fill up ones heart with love. One can never have too much love in the house. Adoption is a great way to find a loving companion for another lonly pet or even for a lonly person. Pets have a way of adding joy to each day. Please look deep into your hearts and you will find the perfect pet from the ones available. Pets blend together -dogs and cats learn to love each other. I have found room for 4 dogs and a slew of cats and they all love each other and each has found a place here and love is all around. A pet owner will never feel lonly when surrounded by the warmth of love. What ever happens in your day when you look into those sweet loving faces all is right with the world --Ginny and the Fur family

We came over from Mishkat's page and we are purraying that Winnie's wish comes true! Mom actually posted about them on her FaceBook page in hopes that someone out there can help one, if not all, of those purrecious babies!!!

We are crossing our paws for all of these beauties to find great homes!! Our Mom says we can volunteer to be part of a transport convoy/exchange!
We would love to post about these kitties, but we have a little snowshoe girl that we have to post on immediately & unfortunately her story is very similar to these kitties - she's in dire need of rescue, too.
If you would like to get more information about where we are & where our Mom (Cory) could drive to, please contact us via email!!

We told our mom that she can help with transport (and she always does what we tell her). We're in northeast Florida and can make her drive lots of miles.

You can definitely see your enthusiasm in the work you write. The world hopes for more passionate writers like you who aren?ˉt afraid to say how they believe. Always go after your heart.

More speculatively, it could make long-distance space travel more feasible by slowing down ageing and reducing the consumption of oxygen and food.

You're doing a wonderful thing here!
I would love to talk to you about adoption, but I'm unsure how to contact you. Could you email me when you have time? (I know you are dealing with the aftermath of kennel cough, so please don't feel the need to hurry)
Posted by: Andrea | 02/17/2011 at 02:49 PM
Chrystal, a small suggestion, for when you have time.
If you could make the titles for Winnie's posts live links, it would make them easier for visitors to find.

Chrystal
My iPad is giving me fits trying to leave this message....
You showed Daphne compassion, and love, and she found her forever home with you. I truly don't think cats measure things the way we do, so to her her life was complete. She was no longer alone, abandoned, afraid. She knew warmth, care and had all her needs met. She was fulfilled. She certainly left her paw prints all over your heart,so she will never be forgotten ever again.
Just remember each time you look to the evening skies when you see that twinkling light it will Daphne winking at you.
Love & purrs
