I had a long foster kitten season this year. Not only did I foster more kittens than usual, but the big bunch of them came in the Fall rather than in the Spring. It was wonderful to have many of them adopted straight from my home into their forever homes. There was Victor, then Casey, Tasha, Cashmere, and finally Leo the Lion. Little Trudi was never Chosen, but before long I had two NEW foster kittens to keep her company. I wrote about Sheriff and Deputy about a month ago. And now today . . . I am thrilled to announce that those two boys have been Chosen – TOGETHER. They are in a home for a two-week trial and they are already doing well.
The family who inquired about Sheriff and Deputy happened to be one I already knew. This couple has children now, but years ago, before children came along, they used to board their dog in my kennel. When I first heard from the husband I was thrilled, hoping that J & J would be the folks to give Sheriff and Deputy their forever home. We texted and emailed back and forth. I was practically holding my breath while they were deciding. And then I got the word. They would do the two-week trial and see how it went.
Sheriff and Deputy are two plain tabby cats. Once they went to the shelter, they would have been a couple of cats that probably would never have been chosen. Also – the likelihood that they would EVER have gone together was slim to none. And Sheriff would likely not have made a very good adjustment in a home without his brother IF he had, by some stroke of luck, ever been chosen to begin with. Having these two go straight from my house into a home, TOGETHER, was everything I had wished for them.
Even when they're not Wishers, I'm just thrilled when precious little animals end up in wonderful, loving homes.
See you tomorrow.
