The word “fortunate” has many meanings. For my purposes here, this works - a pleasant ending or something that happens at just the right moment. The word can also mean being rewarded for what one does, even bigger rewards than are deserved. Well, I feel fortunate.
Today is all about how blessed Winnie’s Wish is. There are a lot of rescued kitties here who require vet care and lots of supplies. Luckily, I have help.
Let’s start with litter.
Last week I showed you that Winnie’s Wish received an amazon gift card from Patti for Christmas. She said in her note that since she didn’t know what was most needed from the Wish List, a gift card was best. Well, kitty litter is the thing I use the most of. So I went to amazon to get a bag of litter. AND IT WAS ON SALE. $10.63 for the 40-lb bag! I was able to get TWO bags with my gift card and a cat toy to round it out. Twenty-five Wishers (I mean TWENTY-THREE – Yay!) means tons and tons of litter. WHAT a deal at less than eleven bucks for the BIG bag. (Yep. Kitty litter makes me really happy.)
Then I discovered three boxes on my front porch. What was inside? Cat food and kitty litter!!
Sandy – THANK YOU.
On the same day, more boxes arrived here for Winnie’s Wish.
Beth and Mike – THANK YOU.
Then there was this.
If you’ve ever seen any of Andrea’s work (Celestial Kitties), you recognize these. Well, you probably recognize the round one. I asked Andrea for a round bed because I needed it for a particular cat tree in the cathouse. But I also asked Andrea if she could special-make a bed in a very strange size. She said she sure could do it – all I had to do was give her the dimensions. So I had her make the long narrow bed for a certain project I’m working on. As soon as I get my part done, I’ll show you why I needed such a strangely-sized cushion.
But that was not all that came in the box of beds from Andrea. You guys know that Andrea ran an Insta-Auction for Winnie’s Wish. It ran for about five months, and she closed it down on the last day of November. The first week of October I received a check from Andrea for the first “take” from the Insta-Auction - $500.00!! That was completely thrilling and I talked about it on the blog at that time. (And of course, that money is almost all used up.) Andrea and I email back-and-forth and she was worrying about whether or not the Auction was continuing to do as well. But then . . . she emailed me with the news. After the Insta-Auction ended on the last day of November, the “take” was MORE than the first time – approx $750.00. That was completely amazing and so exciting and awesome and did I say amazing?! But then Andrea told me that she and Greg would be “rounding up.” I got that check in the mail (with the great beds Andrea made for me). So ready? . . . (drumroll) . . .
Andrea (and Greg) – THANK YOU.
And as I’ve said before - THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the Insta-Auction. All of Andrea’s hard work on this fundraiser would be for nothing if she didn’t have you wonderful people involved. So to everyone who has been a part of this great idea – Andrea’s Insta-Auction – THANK YOU.
Here’s to 2017 being a great year for Winnie’s Wish! With your support and some great adoptions, Winnie’s Wish will continue to thrive.
See you tomorrow for a story that will warm your heart.
