I STILL do not have working email. Initially, the trouble was with our own email program. When that was going to cost us $200, I started trying to learn to use the email program provided by our internet server. This worked, but NONE of my contacts or any previous email, sent or received, was stored there. So it was a back-and-forth process, except that some days, I couldn't even access the other program. THEN – the email associated with our internet provider stopped working. A call to the tech guy provided this information: The email server we use has crashed, and we are having to install a brand new program.
So we waited. It didn't work and didn't work. There were problems and bugs and no service whatsoever. Finally, we were notified that the new email service was in place. So over this past weekend, I started meticulously going through email from the last week of July thru August and into the first of September. I sent email after email to people who were surely wondering why I was not responding to anything. By Saturday evening I was feeling really good about finally sending individual emails to people explaining why they were JUST NOW hearing back from me. Then on Sunday (yesterday) morning, I checked email only to discover that I had a message back on at least half a dozen of the emails I'd tried to send – Undeliverable. And that's not where it ends. I also had a FB message from my aunt. I'd asked her to check if she (finally) received an email from me that I'd been trying to send for two weeks. Nope. She had not received it. And I had NO message that it was “Undeliverable." That could only mean that NONE of the emails I'd sent out actually reached their destinations.
Here is my plea. If you have emailed me ANYTIME from the last few days of July through all of August and now into September – ASSUME I DID NOT RECEIVE IT or that I did receive it AND HAVE TRIED TO ANSWER BACK WITH NO SUCCESS. I am so sorry. I even received a donation through my donate button and until yesterday had been unable to thank that person (I finally located her on Facebook). I have a call in this morning to our internet tech guy. PLEASE keep your fingers crossed that this problem is fixed – REALLY fixed – SOON. And please have patience. I will eventually be in touch with you. If you left a comment on the blog that required a response or you sent ANYTHING to me via email, please resend once I announce that this problem is over. Again – I apologize.
Before I close for today, let me tell you what I found out about my sweet Jane last Thursday. I ended up seeing Dr. O instead of Dr. S. That was fine with me as I absolutely love FOUR of the vets in this practice and Dr. O is one of them (as is Dr. S). Because Jane is eleven years old, they will not remove her leg. The plan is to go in and remove the tumor which is what they did last Summer. It's been nearly 15 months since that surgery and the tumor is just now noticeable again. At Jane's age, we will shoot for getting as much of the tumor as we can and see how long this takes us into the future. Dr. O said that even at Jane's age she could adjust to three legs. That's not the biggest problem. The surgery to remove her leg (at the shoulder) is such a radical surgery and comes with so much pain that he doesn't want to do that to her at this stage of life. Like he said – We'll get what we can and this will buy time. At Jane's age, something else could get her before this cancer ever does. We'll go with what gives her the best chance with the most comfort. At eleven, it doesn't make sense to go radical. I was greatly relieved. We have a plan. And unless they discover something crazy during surgery, I know my girl will have a short recovery period and return to her comfortable life. Her surgery is scheduled for this Friday.
See you tomorrow.
