The last two days I've posted about a sister and brother we rescued last Fall. There was a third cat in that group and we still don't know exactly what her relationship is to Truly and Shiloh. The three were living together in a remote area. I assumed they were three siblings who had been dumped at some point. They were not young kittens but didn't seem to be adults yet either. Older Daughter was able to give a ball-park idea of how old they were by their teeth. Truly and Shiloh were the same age. But Autumn was several months older than the other two. Strangely, her teeth suggested that she was about 4-5 months older than her cohorts. This never made sense. She was not their littermate. She was too young to be their mother. I guess we'll never know.
Autumn is such a wonderful gal. She's a small cat, I guess close to a year and a half old now. And have you looked at that face? She's certainly striking in appearance. Her calico colors are intense.
There are two cats who follow me EVERYWHERE when I'm in the cathouse. They help me clean litter boxes, they help me sweep, they help me find the toys that have scooted under the couch. Those two cats are Truly and Autumn. Whereas Truly has no trait that is anything less than appealing, Autumn has one little characteristic that is not particularly endearing. She doesn't like to be picked up. She follows me everywhere. She wants me to pet her and pet her and pet her. She will get on my lap if I sit long enough. But when I try to pick her up, she struggles away and looks at me with pure disgust. I have a feeling that this behavior might moderate if she was living in a home where she had a lot more access to her human than she currently has to me. One more cute thing about Autumn – she loves toys. I mean more than the average adult cat loves toys. I guess she's making up for all those months when she was the caretaker of two younger kitties. She is SO entertaining. A great cat all around if you don't mind not picking her up . . .
Autumn gets along with the other cats in the cathouse. She usually pursues any new cats and attempts to make friends. If the cat she is pursuing hisses at her, she trots away and doesn't make another attempt for a while. There are three cats Autumn consistently hangs out with – Truly, Shiloh, and Sallie. If you're looking for just one kitty, Autumn would do fine. If you're looking for two, she could go with Shiloh and provide him some comfort. She could go with Sallie if you're crazy for calicoes. Then of course, if you're looking for three, you couldn't go wrong with Autumn and Truly and Shiloh. I'm just sayin' . . . .
Please pass this along. Help me find the perfect home for Autumn.
