I’ve always said that I think EVERY cat is beautiful. And I don’t just say that. I look at my own cats and just can’t get over how gorgeous they are. Then I step into the cathouse, and oh my - more gorgeous kitties. I love them all. I mean, I love THEM, yes. But I love how they look, too. Long-haired, short-haired, big cats, little cats, pointed faces, round faces. I love calico, solid color, two-tone, tuxie, tabby, tortie . . .
But once upon a time, there was a FACE that I fell in love with. You probably know the blog Critters in the Cottage (in my sidebar). There was a cat there by the name of Lewis. I told LP (writer of the blog) that she was lucky her home was SO far away from mine. Otherwise, I would have slipped in quietly and stolen Lewis away from her. His face was amazing as you can see for yourself from his picture (below). For some reason, I fell head over heels for that face. Lewis is no longer with us. He has a brick in the Winnie’s Wish Walkway which he shares with two other Rainbow Bridge residents. (You can read Lewis’ brick story here.)
In the Fall of 2011, I met up with another feline face that grabbed me by the throat. This was a tiny kitten who was in a comatose state when I took her in. She didn’t live, but oh how I wanted her to. I was completely and totally in love with that little face. I named her Mariela and it crushed me (as it always does) when she moved on to the Rainbow Bridge. (You can read about Mariela here.)
Now another face has taken hold of me. I noticed the very day (he?she?) was born . . . By late on that first day of Life, I noticed something about one of the little tuxie kittens in Glimmer’s litter. Uh-huh. It was one of those faces. I just couldn’t stop staring. I’ve been admiring this face every day since. Of course, I won’t keep this sweet baby even though that face won’t let me go. I have my (large) cat family in my house and plenty of homeless sweethearts in the cathouse. It is terribly hard to let go of ANY of the kittens and cats I foster. But it will be even MORE difficult to send this little one on. What I’m going to do is leave my mark. I’ve decided that once we can determine male or female, this baby will be christened with one of two names - either Lewis or Mariela. The Second.
Now - take a look at this FACE.
Have a great Tuesday, and I’ll see you tomorrow for a heartwarming story about a pit bull.

Beautiful face and looks so like Lewis - I went over and read all the stories about the beloved three and now I know what love they recieved in their home... love is forever and continues on even over the bridge... lewis looks as if he has a small Canadian tree on his face and so does this new little kitty... I vote for the name lewis - love their brick ... Ginny & The Fur Family

I was smitten with Lewis too ~ it broke my heart when I heard he had gone to the Bridge. I'm sad little Mariela didn't make it too but it comforts me to know she knew love before leaving.
Thank you for loving these babies so much.
