Here’s a riddle. It’s really scary if it starts in February. I’ll give you a minute.
Did you get it? . . . . .
Older Daughter called from work on Friday. Hey Mom, remember our maternity ward last year? Remember when you fostered all of those pregnant mom cats so they could have their kittens in peace instead of in the midst of the chaos of a shelter? Yes - I said. Well, can we do that again? Yes - I said. But why are you asking now?
Uh huh. This is a beautiful soon-to-be-mom kitty who came into the shelter and is now set up here. I was completely startled by how much she looks like the Winnie’s Wisher Glitter who was just adopted in December (to R and C who also adopted Circe and Cashmere at the same time!) Just look at the resemblance! Therefore, her name is Glimmer.
And so it begins. Last year in February, I was only just beginning to think about Kitten Season. In fact, last year, I spent February doing weekly TWOsday posts to generate interest in adoptions of the adult cathouse cats. On each TWOsday (Tuesday) in February, I highlighted TWO kitties at a time - those who had been adopted as a pair, and those Winnie’s Wishers who I hoped might BE adopted as a twosome. One of those pairs was Percy and Golden who did, in fact, end up being adopted together (by Mindy Slimmer). Today, in honor of Valentine’s Week, I want to push a pair. I have only one couple currently in the cathouse that I would really love to see go to a home TWOgether. That would be Truly and Shiloh.
Here’s what I can tell you without any hesitation. WHOEVER ADOPTS THESE TWO WON’T BE SORRY. Truly is currently the sweetest available kitty in the cathouse. She is, in every way, a PERFECT little cat. She is SO sweet that it is impossible to impart. She loves EVERY human, and EVERY cat. She loves attention; she loves to play. She loves to be petted; she loves a lap. And she loves her brother Shiloh. Shiloh is also a sweet-natured cat, but he is SHY. This one will require an adjustment period in a new home, but I feel confident that he will come around nicely - especially if he gets to go with his sister.
I would say that having these two “picked” during this Valentine’s Week would be the greatest news ever. (Or imagine having these two chosen along with family member Autumn. That would be the sweetest thing. I have had three adopted into the same home - more than once!)
Of course - ANY adoption would be wonderful, right? Even a “trial adoption” would be great because that would mean somebody is getting a chance, right? Tune in tomorrow.
