Well, folks. I was very excited about starting 2013 with a post about yet ANOTHER adoption. However, I don’t have that story to tell today. But I haven’t given up hope. Here’s the story as it played out through yesterday.
A woman named M contacted me back in October. She was interested in a particular Winnie’s Wisher and I was more than happy to answer her questions. As always, we entered an email dialogue and I got to know more about M. I was excited to discover that she was exactly what I look for in a potential adopter. However, M’s company did some downsizing and M found herself back in college. Because of that, M decided that it might not be the best time to bring a new kitty into her home in the middle of a semester and headed into the Christmas season. She wanted to be home more during the adjustment period for the new addition. She told me that maybe right after Christmas would work.
Well, you guys know that I try really hard not to get my hopes up too high. I knew it was possible I might not hear back from M. But right after Christmas I DID hear from her. She said she would like to make arrangements for Monday, New Year’s Eve. My excitement was nearly un-containable. I got the health record ready on Sunday night and made my plans to get new pictures on Monday morning. I got excited about the fact that I could do a “teaser” post for New Year’s Eve (which I did yesterday) to be followed by the announcement of ANOTHER adoption today. M lives a couple of hours from me but refused my offers to meet her halfway. She said the trip to my place could be a little adventure and she would come after lunch. I got up yesterday morning with anticipation swimming all around me. I got my New Year’s Eve post onto the blog and then checked email. And there it was.
M had written at 4:30 am. She was down with the stomach flu. Poor dear ended the email with this - “will not make it to your house today.”
So even though I don’t have a wonderful adoption post to offer today, I am hopeful that M will feel better soon, and I will still get to report a WONDERFUL event to you in the near future. (Uh-huh, I am well aware that I did not tell you WHICH cat. If this adoption does happen after all, you wouldn’t want me to have completely ruined the surprise, now would you?)
In the meantime, you will want to check out Andrea’s story at Savannah’s Paw Tracks. I understand the post today over there will be about Star and Leo. As everyone knows, Andrea is a HUGE supporter of Winnie’s Wish and she is always looking for (and finding) ways to get the word out.
Here’s wishing you the BEST of EVERYTHING in 2013. As for me and the homeless crew here - we're wishing for a year FULL of wonderful forever homes!

Much Love,

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO THE PARKER FAMILY --I went over to Andreas site and could not get it to come up, but will try back later - the weather is sometimes keeping Comcast from doing its thing. I do hope the adoption goes through and that it could be Frosting but any will be great.. have a wonderful day at your house... eat black eyed peas and salt pork as the saying goes. love to all the people in blog world - Ginny & The Fur Family

Happy new year! I hope M recovers from the flu quickly. I had it the Friday before Christmas. It was terrible but over in a day. Three others at my work have had it (but not close to each other in terms of time) and two people I know from elsewhere have had it. It seems to be hitting sporadically all over.
In any case, I hope her plans for adopting a cat will be unaffected by all of this and that we can read of happy news soon.
