When Andrea launched her toy FUNdraiser for Winnie’s Wish, I never dreamed it would be as successful as it was. She worked tirelessly making those wonderful toys that SO many kitties now have in their homes. Andrea - you’re amazing! THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Then along came Shiloh. I still to this day cannot believe we actually found him. I have to pinch myself sometimes to keep from thinking it was all a dream. Not only was it highly unlikely that we would ever get that little guy, it was QUITE likely that something would get him before we even had a chance. This past weekend, our weather turned really cold. There was a north wind howling Friday night with sheets of cold rain blowing nearly sideways. It's been in the thirties night after night ever since. Three little kittens were safe and sound in my bathroom as the cold storm raged outside. One of those three is recuperating from surgery - when Shiloh was rescued I discovered that his leg was badly broken. Imagine it, friends. Out on a night like that, alone, starving, and with a broken leg. But none of that is how it went. He is safe and sound and healing right here, right now. The Chip-In I put up for his surgery filled and doubled.
Then several of you suggested that I leave up the Chip-In, and Andrea put forward the idea of a naming game for the yet un-named kittens and puppies. A few more dollars came in to the Chip-In. I now plan to close up the Chip-In THIS weekend instead of next, so if you still want to play The Name Game - click here. (Jeanne needs names for that kitty family.)
Now I’m launching my Fourth Fundraiser for the Winnie’s Wish Walkway. I have already had a couple of orders. If I get even just FIVE, I can place an order. When it’s all said and done, I will have Andrea’s donation, the Chip-In, and whatever the bricks bring in. I feel good about getting through the Winter. I’m getting all of the youngsters through their kitten vaccinations. I can pay off Shiloh’s surgery and some previous neuters. I can schedule some spays when the girls reach the appropriate age. And I can buy the mountains of food and kitty litter that are required to care for this many cats. If you’d like to purchase a brick this time around, the instructions are in this post (below). If you’re new to my blog and you’d like to know more, you can scan through the past year to see the stories people have sent to go along with their bricks. And you can read the posts about the previous three brick fundraisers. *First Fundraiser. *Second Fundraiser. *Third Fundraiser.
You can have a brick honoring a current pet. You can have a brick memorializing a pet no longer with you in body. You can have a brick highlighting your blog or your whole family of pets. Or you can buy a brick as a Christmas gift for someone else. Whatever you want on your brick (that will fit) is perfect for the Winnie’s Wish Walkway. Obviously, the Walkway exists for two reasons that blend together into one - fundraising and love. There are twenty five spots left in the Walkway. What we don’t fill this time around, I’m thinking we’ll probably finish up in a Fifth and Final Fundraiser next Spring.
You can order a brick with text only or you can have text and a picture. The brick with text only is $50.00 and the brick with text and picture is $55.00.
You can go to *Polar Engraving yourself and look around. The brick color I’ve chosen is Impressions #9 (beige). It shows up the best on the ground. You can browse through the clip art to see if you would like to add a picture or symbol. There are pictures of cats and pictures of dogs. There are many other pictures and symbols, too. (I used an angel on my sample brick.) To look at clip art: At the website, go to the far right and click on the sixth choice in that column (it has a picture of a butterfly and says Symbols & Clipart). Scroll down to browse through your choices. Some of the categories are Animals, Nature, Religious Symbols, and Miscellaneous. If you want a wider selection of dogs or cats to choose from, scroll all the way down and you will have the option to click on NEXT. That will take you to the page of additional cat and dog choices. These are actually pictures of particular breeds, but you might find something that fits. Or - you might prefer a sunburst (under Special Activities) or a heart (under Miscellaneous), etc.
Here are the steps to order your brick.
1. Email me with your text (and picture if you’re choosing one). Email address is c3k@lazernetwireless.net Bricks can have one, two, or three lines of text. If you are ordering a text-only brick, each line can have up to 18 characters/spaces. (You can squeeze in up to 20, but 18 or less is recommended for the best look.) Bricks with text and picture can have up to 15 characters/spaces per line.
2. Make your donation. I have a paypal donate button at the top of the sidebar. Or, you can email me and ask for my home address if you prefer to send a check. Donation for a text-only brick is $50. Donation for a text-and-picture brick is $55.
I will collect orders starting today - October 10 - through November 1. Then I will place my order with Polar Engraving. When the bricks arrive here, I will take pictures of them as I have with the previous orders. I should receive the bricks before Christmas. If your brick is a Christmas gift for someone else, I will send you a picture via email of the brick. You can use it in an email holiday greeting, or print off and put in a card or box for the recipient. Of course, I will do the stories behind the bricks again for anyone who wants to send me that information. I will put those stories on the blog starting after the holidays.
And now . . . (drumroll) . . . . The Fourth Installment of the Winnie’s Wish Walkway Brick Fundraiser. Whether you’re getting a brick for a pet still “in the fur”, for a cherished pet who has moved on, to have your blog represented, or as a gift for friend or family, remember this. The Walkway is a very permanent means of memorialization. The Walkway is already SO special. You’ve witnessed through the stories just how treasured those animals are. But there is something else that I don’t want you to lose sight of. Once I pay Polar Engraving and Paypal takes their cut, every penny of donation money helps me keep this rescue going. The costs are big - food, kitty litter, vet bills, spays and neuters, travel costs for transports. Your brick order helps SO MUCH.

We bought out brick in the first round ~ and it's now lovely to see the path forming. It must feel really special walking on it, knowing all that love formed it. Hope you get lots of orders. xx

Being computer challanged I mailed my story and brick order and names. Snail mail took off for Columbus day had no mail delivery so hopefully Chrystal will have it by today. I saw the side walk in person and it looks great. Can't wait until we can see it finished. I love the brick stories and have read the bricks. Chrystal keeps my dogs when we go out of town. This time she was care giver for my newest crippled kittie - Ha'Penny. She is the best or all the rest for caring for animals. Shiloe is looking good and seems to be using his leg to walk. The surgery did him so much good. He is such a pretty kittie. It was a miracle that he was found and brought to the vet to be fixed and can get well surrounded with love. God is good and watches over the furry ones. Winter is coming soon and now is the time to get your brick order in so it can be placed into the side walk. Books are wonderful Christmas presents. More thanks to Anerea for the Fun Fun Fund raiser. Best wishes to all in blog world.... Ginny & The Fur Family

Cool beans!! We got bricks in all the other brick sales and I'm sure we'll get another one! It's so awesome to know your furry love will be imortalized there outside the cathouse! What's even better is knowing that the money for the brick is helping the kitties IN the cathouse!
If you have a kitty or two or even more, you know you can't just not buy food or litter if you're out of money. Kitty's gotta eat. Kitty's gotta... well, you know. They ain't gonna stop when you're outta cash. Same with the cathouse full of kitties, they need food and litter every day. Shots, neuters, spays, those are as needed expenses, but they gotta get paid too. Bricks make sure they can get paid! So do books! So does fundraiser toys. So do donations. See how many ways you can help? Awesome ain't it? :)
A HUGE way you can help doesnt cost anything! Adoptions! Help find good homes for these great kitties! Tell everyone you know that their kitty is just waiting for them!

YAY! But do you haveta stop the chip-in so soon? I think you should keep it up the whole time intended. Seriously. There are people who have checks coming in later, donchaknow.

I am honored that a dear friend of mine purchased a brick for my 50th birthday to commemorate a very special dog, Bogart. Her gift to me is definitely one I will treasure forever and I am so happy that it is to benefit such a worthy cause! Thank you Patti Mitchell!!
