Could we bombard the Ellen Show too while we are at it? Just a thought, betting I am not the only one with that thought.

Jan (Milo and Alfie's mom)

Kevin ~ thank you. I've always known what a great guy you are.

Chrystal ~ what great news. I hope this goes well. xx

Chrystal

"J" - Yes. That is a great idea. There is actually a place on the Ellen website where you can tell them there is someone you'd like to see on the show.

Chrystal

Jan - got any papers in your world that would print a story about how you've reached across the ocean to help us?

I will email you. Kevin ROCKS!!!!

Andrea and the Celestial Kitties

I'll email you too!
I'm so glad Gandy was accepted at the shelter, and I just know you'll turn him into a beautiful, loving, home ready doggie!

Ok, the doggie is taken care of, what about those kitties now? They need homes! Please think about who you know who needs a kitty. Not wants because if you ask a lot of people, YOU included I bet, you'll say I don't really want one (or another) but what about need? They might need a kitty just as much as that kitty needs a home. Need as in, their heart cat, the one kitty who could be their best buddy, could right now be lurking on the sidebar just waiting for them or you to come along and say yes. Yes I will help. Yes I will adopt. Yes I will make a difference in that one (or two) cats life.

For sure, if you have a person in mind, buy them the book! They can see what a great place their new kitty comes from!
Don't forget you can always donate, money, kibble, litter and medical care are always needed!

What about the local pet topic writers for The Examiner? It is an online news service that has dozens of pet writers for local editions all over the country. I know the Washington DC group may be found at http://www.examiner.com/pets-in-washington-dc - each writer's contact info is at the end of the article. The main URL is www.examiner.com .
Kevin, you are so terrific to help out!
I will see what else I can find. Good luck, Chrystal!

So happy to see so many positive and helpful comments and suggestions! Please keep them coming!

@J: Yes, we can and will definitely approach Ellen. And with the release now written, we have all the pertinent info all in one easy-to-read document. :)

@Jan: Thanks for your kind words, dear friend. We think the world of you, too. And thank YOU for all you are doing for Chrystal on the Facebook front!

@Liz Garcia: Thanks for the suggestion. Just to make sure we have it right, are you talking about Galconda, IL?

meowmeowmans

@Madeline Runion: We'll definitely check that out. Thank you!

@Random Felines: Thanks. You rock, too! :)

@Andrea: Looking forward to whatever suggestions you have for Chrystal and me! Thank you for always being such a champion for the Winnie's Wish kitties.

@Ginny: Those specific contacts in Paducah are really helpful! Thank you so much. We'll reach out to Cory and Karen, for sure.

@Webbthistle: GREAT suggestion. I hadn't thought of that, but with the ubiquitous nature of the Internet, nearly every community has "local" online coverage. :) Looking forward to your other suggestions.

http://www.dnj.com/ or http://tennessean.com are the two local papers in my area. The first is for Murfreesboro where I live and the second is for Nashville which handles the whole area and has local section papers as well. I'd break it down more but my pain levels are pretty high right now. You're more than welcome to use my name and my adoption of Lady Audrey Nova StarWatcher neé Sparkles! You're fantastic! If you're ever able to get a small video done that can be used on news stations....

How wonderful! I'm sure this is going to work wonders for the cats and dogs who need homes.

I write pet columns for The Star, a Malaysian national daily. My column is based on the fact that good news motivates everyone including those who don't like pets, whereas sad stories, horror stories and cruelty stories only interest a small portion of animal lovers and rescuers who are already committed to The Cause anyway. I think that when you ask people to help you get into local print that Feel Good has to be the main factor. Also, talk about the pet by name all the time, but you can choose to talk about "Muffin's dad" and "Muffin's foster mum" as often as possible because then readers see themselves in this position. Just a thought.

I'd be interested to see how the campaign goes. Cheers, Ellen

OK, Here Goes- LET's MAKE THIS A VIRAL POST ON FACEBOOK. GO TO CHRYSTAL's Facebook page, and SHARE on your timeline. ASK ALL YOUR FRIENDS TO SHARE. WE actually have the internet capacity to make that happen. IF WE ALL TRY.

Also - I sent an article to the Paducah Sun, but not the Golconda.

I have also posted that article on just about every blog I write on. PLUS the ST Louis Dispatch PR website.
IF THOSE LOCALS WOULD ALSO SEND LETTERS TO THE EDITOR, AND ARTICLES THAT WOULD HELP THE PRESS RELEASE GET NOTICE!!!

Karen Jo

I would love to help, but our local shelter is overflowing with cats -- so much so that they are offering a two for one deal. Take two cats and only pay the adoption fee for one. Take a hard to place cat and pay no adoption fee at all. I really can't see myself offering even more cats for adoption. Sorry.
